Sanskrit

PranavaSanskrit is the language of the celestial realms which conveys meaning in the form of sound frequencies that can be reproduced by the human vocal system. This means that the sounds of sanskrit, which can be "heard" directly by the celestials, form a convenient means of communication with that subtle, non-physical realm. Hence, the importance of the primordial sounds of sanskrit!

This celestial music has its origin on the level of ânandamaya kosha so by taking the conscious awareness to that level, it can be directly "heard" and experienced. This experience is known as experiencing the Rik. When the Rik is experienced, not only is the sound quality perceived but also the form of the Rik. This form is also of extreme importance because it can be directly recorded in the physical plane with the devanagri script. Hence, sanskrit is our direct connection with the realm of Pure Knowledge - S'rî Vyuha.

Sanskrit is composed of numerous symbols which represent the binary, on/off, nature of consciousness, i.e., consciousness can be either null consciousness or fullness of consciousness. The null value of consciousness is the pranava -- that from which consciousness arises -- and is represented by the symbol  (aum). The other sanskrit symbols represent various aspects of the fullness of consciousness.

To transliterate sanskrit into something that can be read in english, a convention may be applied that gives a good rendering. See the Key to Sanskrit Transliteration and Pronunciation for more information.
