During the 12th January 08 celebration, a question was asked: Guru Dev must have been fully enlightened. Now after leaving the body nothing remains in the Relative, just Absolute. Then how do we invoke and to whom? And if nobody is to be invoked, then what is the use? Maharishi: Some such similar question I asked Guru Dev once. What happened was, naturally people come to the ashram from all over India to pay respects to Guru Dev, once or twice a year according to their own convenience. And when they would come they would narrate all sorts of stories, the child was sick or they had a law suit, all sorts of difficulties and then thinking of Guru Dev, that thing disappeared. And hearing all these things for a long time, one night I asked Guru Dev 'What is this?' These people don't even write to Guru Dev, Guru Dev doesn't know they are in difficulty on the surface of life and then how do they report they had a vision or some thought of Guru Dev and then from that ...

The Aditya Hridayam is revealed in the Ramayana to Ram by the great sage Agastya on the battlefield before fighting with Ravana . Ramayana is the classic story of Krishna Avatar S'ri Ram. This story of the seventh advent of Lord Vishnu was recorded as the Ramayana by Rishi Valmiki upon direct inspiration of Lord Brahma Himself. The purpose of the Ramayana is to reveal the Path to Brahman Consciousnes for the benefit of everyone. As we progress on the Path to Brahman Consciousness, we will all, as did S'ri Ram, slay Ravana. Ravana is the collection of karma and ungounded energy that is expressed as arrogance. To destroy arrogance, we must call upon our Atman to give us the secret of how to do this. The Aditya Hridayam is that secret. Chant the verses of the Aditya Hridayam three times at sunrise with devotion to your Atman and hold in your heart the desire to transmute all traces of arrogance. The s'akti of Aditya Hridayam will build day aft ...

Maharishi once said "A family is a field of joy" and we know that Maharishi's statements are deeply profound and can produce the awakening into Brahman Consciousness. This statement is particularily suitable for those who are in family situations. Sometimes the family situation is, on the surface, far from "a field of joy"! Severe health problems with children can occur and bring on much distress, the anxiety and pain caused by a teenager's drug use, the unfaithful spouse, or the death of a child are examples of family situations that appear on the surface to be nothing like a field of joy. So why would Maharishi make such a statement when family life is sometimes the apparent source of deep sorrow and misery? Human life is a transition period on the ascending phase of the cycle of evolution, from the unconscious realms of nature to the superconscious realm of Brahman Consciousness. To make this transition we have to wake up from the dream of daily life. Have you noticed how in a dream ...

Conscious individuals are preparing to celebrate Earthday on April 22, 2008. This is a good beginning of the awareness of the importance of our planet. But there is so much more to understand and appreciate about planet Earth! The Earth is also Goloka, the eternal abode of Krishna. Krishna incarnated on Earth about 5,000 years ago near the end of Trita Yuga as the eighth incarnation of Vishnu. The Srimad Bhagavatam describes Goloka as the highest planet. In Goloka Krishna, who is known as the protector of cows, resides with Radharani, His eternal consort, wherein He performs His divine play, known as Veda Lila. This first paragraph raises some interesting ideas, the first of which is Goloka. Goloka means the world of cows . We know that cows are considered sacred, but why? Because the cow is the physical representative of mother Gaia, the diety of planet Earth. When we respect the cow we are paying respect to Gaia and to her gift to mankind, the planet Earth. Throughout Vedic Literatur ...

Jyotish means light on the path - an invaluable gift from the Creator , Lord Brahma , that not only reveals to us the karma we carry, but also provides a means to rise above this web of karma to the realms of blissful life in Brahman Consciousness. Those who are seeking to improve their happiness and fulfillment in life are invited to enjoy the self-knowledge, keen insights, and techniques for rising above karma provided by S'rî Vyuha Jyotish. S'rî Vyuha Jyotish is unlike Jyotish as commonly used today in two important ways: The focus is on rising above one's karma to enjoy the full bliss of Brahman Consciousness, not predictions of the future The S'rî Vyuha Jyotish Chakra is quite unique and gives a picture of the individual's karma in a way that traditional the Jyotish Kundli cannot. Your S'rî Vyuha Jyotish Chakra is constructed to show your personal web of karma in a graphic form that is literally a symbolic representation of the eons ...

Today we viewed an interesting video that gives us an account of Dr Jill Taylor's experience of what she calls nirvana. Please set aside 18 minutes to enjoy the memorable TED Talk. According to Dr Taylor, nirvana (complete bliss and delight and peace) is experienced when the left hemisphere of the brain stops dominating life with its incessant chatter and becomes silent and the right hemisphere takes over. How does nirvana relate to Brahman Consciousness? We know from scientific research that the physiology of higher states of consciousness is demonstrated by total brain functioning and increased coherence between the left and right hemispheres of the brain. So we must conclude that Dr Taylor's experience is in the category of a near-death experience, rather than a pointer to the physiology of enlightenment. Brahman Consciousness is lived when the ego has become crystal clear and provides only a faint boundary to establish an individual viewpoint. The experience of nirvana is inde ...

Athato Brahmajijñasa One of the most fascinating and useful aspects of the Vedic Literature are the Brahma Sutras. For anyone interested in living Brahman Consciousness, the Brahma Sutras are very important. Brahma Sutras are not supposed to be translated and understood on the level of the mind. Brahma Sutras are pointers to the transcendental, beyond the mind. If we attempt to understand the Brahma Sutras on the surface level of the meaning of words, then the mind will become caught up in the words and we will miss Brahman. Brahman is not a thing to be known. Brahman is for Being. Brahman is the essence of Being, the silence of Being. The Brahma Sutras are to be known in silence and are revealed in silence. The true knowledge of Brahman is in the gap between the sutras. Read a sutra then transcend. Perform samyama on the sutra - drop the sutra into pure consciousness, then be in the silence. The manifestation of the sutra will spring forth with the f ...

If a person lives to be 100 years old these days, it makes the news. However, the human physiology is designed for a lifespan of 100,000 years in Sat-yuga. So why is it that we do not live much, much longer than a measly 100 years? In the Old Testament of the Hebrew Bible there are accounts of people living for hundreds of years. Methuselah is mentioned in Genesis as the son of Enoch and the father of Lamech (father of Noah), whom he fathered at the age of 187. According to the Bible, he reached the age of 969 years. Genesis 5:27 states, "And all the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty and nine years: and he died" (American Standard Version). Genesis 5:5 states, "So all the days that Adam lived were nine hundred and thirty years, and he died." Modern science puts the natural limit on current human longevity below 130 years. The limit is similar to the limit in Biblical reference in Genesis 6:3, where God placed a limit of 120 years on man's lifespan. This corresponds with trans ...

Brahman Consciousness is like an omnipresent "sun" that illuminates the universe. It is always there, shining brightly but the invidivual ego has created a shell around consciousness that blocks it so that we experience life in darkness and isolation. Fortunately for everyone it is possible to "tunnel" through this egoic shell and catch a glimpse of our birthright, the full sunshine of Brahman Consciousness. The first step into the full sunshine of Brahman Consciousness is the Maha Videha Initiation. Maha Videha is the experience of That which exists outside the shell of the ego. This experience produces a tunnel through the thick, dark shell of the ego that permits a glimpse into Brahman Consciousness. The Maha Videha Technique is a means to repeat this experience of Brahman Consciousness at any time. Each time the technique is used to experience Brahman Consciousness, a layer of egoic darkness is removed. Eventually, the thick dark egoic shell is transformed ...

His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi Our beloved Guru, His Holiness Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, ascended to Brahma Loka on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 7:00 pm CET (Vlodrop, The Netherlands). Shortly after His Ascension, we asked Maharishi what would be the change in our relationship? He replied that we will enjoy a greater intimacy and a much deeper connection now that some of His attention is no longer drawn to support His physical body. He will be with us for 1,000 years to continue the work of creating heaven on earth from His vantage at the right hand of Lord Brahma. Maharishi has so expertly and lovingly guided me these past 30 years. He brought me out of the depths of despair and despondency that I found myself engulfed in as a young man with His Transcendental Meditation technique. I remember so clearly that Wednesday evening when I attended the Introductory Lecture at the TM center. Just the night before I was considering how best to end my life which seeme ...
